Paces had a booth at TC Climate and met some amazing people in a jam-packed 12 hours.
Paces had a booth at TC Climate and met some amazing people in a jam packed 12 hours. We spoke to investors, climate founders and some amazing students interested in joining climate startups like ours. We only got to see a couple of speakers but one was Bill Gates. He had some hot takes on nuclear fission (they have a 4th generation nuclear plant being built in Wyoming), web3 (scooping up much needed talent from climatetech), and carbon credits (they are not going to have much impact on climate change relative to direct decarbonization of industries like cement).

Solar Energy Adoption in NY vs. PA
New York (NY) and Pennsylvania (PA) handle zoning and permitting for community solar projects at the township level, requiring navigation of diverse local regulations. Despite similar administrative structures, NY has a mature solar market with double the installed capacity of PA, which is just starting its first community solar program. We decided to build and analyze a database of township-level zoning ordinances and solar laws to see if this same discrepancy shows up in permitting data.
